week 2-pollo guisado

Hi, welcome back to the blog I'm Anthony your host and today I will be telling you all about my experience of making Pollo guisado, which means stewed chicken in Spanish. For this meal, I have employed my mom as the resident cooking expert for some help making this dish (this was kind of important because she knows the recipe and I don't).
All ingredients needed to make this meal, except the secret one that you will see later.
For this meal, you will need, rice, sazón, tomato sauce, chicken thighs, onion powder, red potatoes(or white either works), cooking oil,  sofrito, and today's new ingredient, Adobo.
Adobo, a mixture of dried herbs.
Here is how you make the rice, get a medium pot and a big pot one for the rice and one for the chicken and potatoes, add 4.5 cups of water to the pot(for three cups of rice) and put it on medium heat until the water starts to boil. Add salt(3/4 tbs) and add oil(1/2 tbs) until you see bubbles in the water, add the rice and Stir, lower the heat to between medium and low and let cook for 20 minutes.
use both of these pots to cook the food.
Now it is time for the holy grail, the chicken. what you are going to want to do is start the burner up to medium heat, after that, we add the spices, first, the sazón( three packets), 1 tbs of onion powder, and 1 tbs of adobo, stir this and let it toast for 5 minutes. add 4oz of tomato sauce and  6oz of sofrito and stir once it starts to boil add in the chicken and stir into sauce. stir the chicken occasionally for 5 minutes, be careful to not let it stick. Add 1 cup of water and put a lid on top, let cook for 10 minutes.
spices toasting.
Now time for the potatoes cut the potatoes into cubes and add to the chicken, cook until the potatoes are soft and the chicken is soft enough to be cut with the touch of a spoon. after you have done all of this its time for my favorite part, plating!!

the finished product, enjoy!
that is all for this blog thanks for reading and enjoy your food if you decide to make this. tune in next time for more recipes.
